Where lake-plain clay holds water near a pad, freezing and thawing can work against the ground below the surface. #2 Crushed Stone provides angular rock with open voids between the pieces. The material is washed, and it has no fines to fill those voids, allowing water a path through the layer instead of holding it at the surface.
This makes it a practical fit around culverts, drainage runs, and barn or equipment pads where a heavy stone layer is called for. It can also serve at a construction entrance where traffic brings mud from an active site. When an access lane needs a regular driving finish, keep this stone below and add finished driving gravel on top.

Common Uses
Construction Entrances
Where vehicles leave a work area for the street, large angular stone helps pull mud from their tires before they travel onto the road.
Culvert & Ditch Lining
Use these heavy stones at culvert ends and along ditches where runoff gathers, helping keep the lining in place.
Heavy Base Layers
Place it first beneath soft ground, farm travel paths, or equipment areas, then add smaller stone over it.
Drainage Courses
Its open voids let substantial water flow pass through the rock and away from the work area.
Why Choose #2 Crushed Stone
Stays Put
The large, weighty stones help limit rutting and are less likely to scatter beneath tires.
Quick Drainage
Because it is washed and free of fines, this stone leaves open spaces that let water drain through.
Bridges Soft Ground
Large angular rock distributes weight across weak or wet subgrade.
Low Maintenance
After installation, you generally only need to replenish the stone occasionally.
